As we are approaching the first day of school, I cannot help to feel a little bit of excitement about seeing all the students who attended school last year, and greeting those who are new.
The elementary school years are some of the most formative for developing our social skills, instilling caring and empathy, increasing their worldwide awareness, getting them interested in different careers, teaching them how to be resilient, and improving communication.
Students start to understand how they can make difference in the world. Independence increases as they improve their critical thinking and problem solving abilities. Personalities are being formed with the exposure to the outside world. They start thinking bigger and comprehend their choices can change their trajectory.
This year we will work to help them develop these skills. We will provide guidance toward their goals and make them aware of what is waiting for them as they progress through life. Children need the opportunity to display their knowledge and to build upon it. Support comes from home, school, and the community. These are key elements to ensure a prosperous life.
